TIPS TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR SESSION.
01. Drink Water
Honestly drinking water the days leading up with make your skin look great. No one wants to look drained in their portraits, so drink plenty to stay hydrated.
02. Get Some Sleep
Sleepy eyes never look great on anyone and Photoshop can only do so much. So get plenty of sleep (6-8 hours) the nights before the session. Plus you will feel rested and won't have that overwhelming feeling when you are tired.
03. Try on your outfits one week before
This is a big one to make sure gets done, especially planning for your family. We all love to wait until the last minute, but this tip will save you so much peace of mind. Make sure your outfits make you feel great confident because it will show in your session. You can even take a photo and send it to us to start planning out your photo experience. And when we say outfit, that means head to toe outfit, shoes and accessories.
04. Pack a touch up bag for makeup
Let's be honest, it's Nebraska and we all know the weather isn't consistent, so having your extra makeup or hair accessories with you is a great idea. Things like brushes, hair ties, curling iron or straightener, etc. We will have some essentials in your dressing room, but it doesn't hurt to have your own special collection with you.
05. Have a helper/encourager
Sometimes it's tough getting into your groove meeting new people and being photographed. Luckily you will have your family with you to keep everyone in their comfort zone.
06. Eat before the session
Don't come hungry because you will be using energy to pose and laugh and have a great experience! Hangry doesn't look good on people. Eat a good breakfast or lunch. Or make sure the kids have full tummies. But know we have refreshments here too.
07. Relax
This is us giving you permission to take time for yourself!! And know that we have the rest. You have done all of the prep to get ready for this photoshoot, so now it's our turn to take on the responsibility to create incredible images for you. With that said, please don't coach or bribe your kids, we want them to keep their focus on us while shooting. If we lose that small part of control, the session might not go as planned. Kids only give us so much time and attention before they want to play.
08. Gather your clothes & items
The night before, lay out all of your outfits and accessories. Getting a family ready for a session is a lot of work, so one less thing to worry about the day of helps so much. You won't want to be scrambling around the day of the session and stressing yourself out, wondering if you forgot anything!
09. Give Yourself Time
Don't rush yourself the day of the session. Take the days prior to organize your outfits and plan your hair and makeup. The day of should be easy and open to making memories of your family photoshoot. Don't plan anything else that could get in the way.
